Asian Straw: Spirit and Symbols
Temple Horses are made throughout Japan using rice-straw all with a vigorous pose. Within each area they are used differently, as with most folk or cultural arts. Some are given to temples to elicit a particular purpose.
Some are placed upon the home to rid it of evil spirits while others believe it to be transportation for the newly departed spirits.
