Welcome to the Woven Straw Elements Tour!
In this tour you will see examples of woven, plaited, twisted, and tied straw pieces. Many of them use a combination of techniques in various elements to achieve the final look of the piece.

Weaving, or plaiting straw is an ancient process. Many weaves that began in straw have been used with other materials. You can find modern woven leather belts that use plaits taken from early straw weavings.
There are simple plaits that use two or three straws, to very complex plaits using 15, 20 or even more straws. Each plait has it's own distinctive look. Together these plaits form an endless chain of possibilities.
